Axis of Rapture

This work exists in two orientations, asking the viewer to witness the same scar as both vertical and horizontal — as body and as terrain, as portal and as horizon. The dark, burned void at its center becomes an axis of rupture, around which colors bloom and fracture. In one reading, the form rises like an opening into the unknown, a wound ascending toward light. In another, it spreads across the canvas like volcanic ground, a landscape of fire and ash. Between these shifts of perspective, the painting speaks to how every wound carries multiple dimensions — intimate and cosmic, internal and external, destruction and becoming.
