Kami

This work embodies the shifting presence of the kami — forces that are at once descending, expanding, and dissolving. In its primary vertical orientation, the painting becomes a channel, a downward flow where crystalline fragments break through veils of pigment like spirit entering matter. The embedded crystals anchor the work in transformation, their presence acting as luminous markers of passage. When rotated to its horizontal form, the painting opens into a horizon — a resonance field where spirits gather and disperse, the crystals becoming constellations across an elemental expanse. Together, the two orientations invite the viewer to witness the same presence in different states: descent and diffusion, embodiment and dispersion.
